Seek first the Kingdom of God…

I love to write! We are building a community of readers and writers that share a passion to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and then everything else will follow. This is a place where we express our writing and imagination for His glory.

Emotional Meditation—By Micah Siemens

The psalmist now turns from the temporary prosperity of the wicked to the enduring reality of God’s justice. “Surely you place them on slippery ground; you cast them down to ruin.” The insight gained in the sanctuary reveals a larger perspective: the seeming success of the ungodly is fleeting. Their ease is fragile, their strength temporary. What once provoked envy now highlights the stability of a life rooted in God.

This vision shifts the psalmist’s heart from despair to devotion. “How suddenly are they destroyed, completely swept away by terrors!” The finality of the wicked’s downfall contrasts sharply with the enduring security of the faithful. Awareness of this divine oversight transforms his understanding, reminding him that God’s care extends far beyond immediate appearances, and that true security lies not in worldly prosperity but in the Lord’s sovereign protection.

With clarity comes gratitude. “But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.” The psalmist’s focus shifts from comparison and envy to intimate trust. Being near God is no longer abstract; it is both sanctuary and the source of strength. Life rooted in God produces joy, security, and the ability to testify to His faithfulness, even when the world seems unjust.

The psalmist expresses a deep personal confidence: “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Human weakness is acknowledged without pretense, yet it is met with divine strength. The faithful life is not free from struggle, but it is sustained by God Himself. The psalmist declares a profound truth: the Lord’s presence, not earthly comfort, defines the measure of life and hope.

The psalm closes with a declaration of commitment and joy. “Those who are far from you will perish; you destroy all who are unfaithful to you. But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Lord God my refuge.” The journey comes full circle—from envy and doubt to insight and devotion. What began in struggle ends in steadfastness. The psalmist stands secure, not in comparison to the wicked, but in the life-giving presence of the God who sustains, protects, and satisfies the soul forever.
