Seek first the Kingdom of God…

I love to write! We are building a community of readers and writers that share a passion to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and then everything else will follow. This is a place where we express our writing and imagination for His glory.

Emotional Meditation—By Micah Siemens

The psalm does not shy away from naming the feeling that so often settles over the human heart: “When the earth totters, and all its inhabitants…” It is an image of instability that goes beyond circumstance—it feels structural, as if the very ground beneath life is giving way. This is not a minor disturbance; it is disorientation. What once felt dependable now trembles, and the soul begins to wonder what, if anything, can still be trusted.

There is something deeply honest here. Faith does not require pretending that the world is steady when it clearly is not. The psalm allows space for that unsettling awareness—that systems fail, leaders falter, and even the rhythms of life can feel unpredictable. Acknowledging this is not weak faith, but clarity. It is the courage to see the world as it is, without illusion.

And yet, into that instability comes a quiet, stabilizing voice: “It is I who keep steady its pillars.” The image shifts beneath our feet. What appears to be collapsing is, in fact, being held. The pillars of the earth—those unseen structures that sustain everything—do not stand on their own strength. They are upheld by God Himself. What feels like chaos above is met with a deeper order below.

This does not necessarily remove the experience of shaking. The world may still feel uncertain, and circumstances may not immediately resolve. But it reframes the meaning of that instability. The trembling is not a sign that all is lost, but a reminder that the world is not self-sustaining. Its endurance depends, moment by moment, on the sustaining will of God. Beneath the movement, there is a steady hand.

For the weary heart, this becomes an invitation to rest differently. Not in circumstances, which shift, nor in human assurances, which can fail, but in the One who holds what cannot be seen. The soul may still feel the tremor, but it is no longer undone by it. There is a deeper steadiness available—a quiet confidence that even when everything feels like it is giving way, God has not let go of the foundations.
