Seek first the Kingdom of God…

I love to write! We are building a community of readers and writers that share a passion to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and then everything else will follow. This is a place where we express our writing and imagination for His glory.

Emotional Meditation—By Micah Siemens

“The waters saw you, O God; the waters saw you and writhed; the depths also were troubled” The psalmist now speaks of creation itself responding to the presence of God. What once felt like chaos—the deep, the waters, the unknown—becomes a witness to divine authority. The sea is no passive element; it trembles, recoils, as if recognizing its Creator. In these words, fear begins to shift. The very forces that often symbolize overwhelming distress are shown to be under God’s command. What troubles us is not beyond Him; it trembles before Him.

“The clouds poured out water; the skies gave forth thunder; your arrows flashed on every side” The scene intensifies into a storm, alive with sound and movement. Thunder rolls, lightning splits the sky, and rain pours down in torrents. This is not a quiet or distant God—it is a God who enters the moment with power. And yet, this display is not chaos for its own sake; it is purposeful, directed. The psalmist recalls that even in the loudest, most unsettling moments, God is not absent. He is present in the storm, not as its victim, but as its sovereign.

“The crash of your thunder was in the whirlwind; your lightnings lighted up the world; the earth trembled and shook” There is no corner untouched by this presence. The world itself responds—shaken, illuminated, awakened. It is a reminder that God’s activity is not subtle when He chooses to act; it is unmistakable. And yet, for all its intensity, there is a strange comfort here. The trembling earth is not abandoned—it is being addressed, engaged, moved by the One who holds it together. Even when life feels like it is shaking apart, it may be that God is nearer than we realize.

“Your way was through the sea, your path through the great waters; yet your footprints were unseen” Here the psalmist reaches a profound recognition. God made a way where there was none, carving a path through what seemed impassable. And yet, even as He acted decisively, His presence remained mysterious—His footprints unseen. This is the tension of faith: God is both revealed and hidden, active yet not always traceable. The psalmist does not resolve this tension; he rests within it. God’s ways may not always be visible, but they are no less real.

“You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron” The storm gives way to gentleness. The God who commands seas and shakes the earth is also the Shepherd who leads His people with care. This is not power detached from compassion—it is power exercised for the sake of guidance and protection. Through human hands, through ordinary means, God brought His people forward. And so the psalm closes not with spectacle, but with trust. The God who makes a way through the depths is the same God who leads, step by step, even when the path cannot be seen.
