Seek first the Kingdom of God…

I love to write! We are building a community of readers and writers that share a passion to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and then everything else will follow. This is a place where we express our writing and imagination for His glory.

Emotional Meditation—By Micah Siemens

“My hand will sustain him; surely My arm will strengthen him” Having chosen and anointed David, God now promises His continual presence and support. The Lord does not simply call His servants and leave them to rely on their own strength. He pledges to sustain and strengthen them throughout their journey. David would face countless challenges, battles, disappointments, and responsibilities, yet God’s hand would remain upon him. Believers today can draw great comfort from this promise. The Lord knows the demands and difficulties we encounter, and He never expects us to face them alone. His sustaining hand upholds us when we are weary, and His mighty arm provides strength when our own resources are exhausted. The Christian life is not lived through self-sufficiency but through daily dependence upon the God who faithfully strengthens His people.

“No enemy will subject him to tribute; no wicked man will oppress him” God promises His protection over the one He has chosen. This does not mean David would never encounter opposition, but it does mean that no enemy would ultimately prevail against God’s purposes for his life. Throughout Scripture, we see that the Lord often allows His people to experience trials, yet He never abandons them to defeat. There are times when believers feel surrounded by pressures, injustices, or spiritual opposition. In those moments, this verse reminds us that God remains sovereign over every adversary and every circumstance. The enemies we face are real, but they are never greater than the God who watches over us. His protective care surrounds His people even when the path is difficult.

“I will crush his foes before him and strike down his adversaries” The Lord declares that He Himself will act on behalf of His servant. David’s victories would not ultimately be the result of military skill, personal courage, or strategic wisdom, but of God’s intervention and power. This truth reminds believers that the greatest battles of life are not won through human effort alone. We often carry burdens that seem too heavy and confront obstacles that appear impossible to overcome. Yet God is able to remove barriers, defeat opposition, and accomplish what we cannot achieve in our own strength. While His timing and methods may differ from our expectations, His power remains unmatched. We can move forward in faith, knowing that the Lord is actively working on behalf of those who trust Him.

“My faithful love will be with him, and through My name his horn will be exalted” The foundation of God’s promise is not merely His power but His steadfast love and faithfulness. Throughout David’s life, there would be moments of triumph and moments of failure, seasons of joy and seasons of sorrow. Yet God’s faithful love would remain constant. The exaltation of David’s horn speaks of strength, honor, and victory that come from the Lord alone. Believers can rejoice in the same assurance today. Our hope does not rest in our ability to remain strong but in God’s commitment to remain faithful. His love does not fluctuate with our circumstances, and His promises do not weaken with time. The God who exalts His people does so according to His grace and for the glory of His name.

Psalm 89:21–24 presents a beautiful picture of God’s unwavering commitment to those He calls. He sustains them with His hand, strengthens them with His arm, protects them from ultimate defeat, and surrounds them with His faithful love. These verses remind us that God’s servants are never left to navigate life’s challenges on their own. The Lord who calls also equips, protects, and preserves. In seasons of weakness, opposition, or uncertainty, believers can find renewed confidence in the faithfulness of God. His presence remains with His people, His strength is always sufficient, and His love never fails. As we trust in His promises, we can walk forward with courage, knowing that the God who sustained David continues to sustain His people today.
