Seek first the Kingdom of God…

I love to write! We are building a community of readers and writers that share a passion to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and then everything else will follow. This is a place where we express our writing and imagination for His glory.

Emotional Meditation—By Micah Siemens

“Let your work be shown to your servants, and your glorious power to their children” As Psalm 90 draws to its close, the psalmist lifts his eyes beyond the present generation. After reflecting on life’s brevity and pleading for God’s mercy, he now prays that God would make His saving work unmistakably visible. Human accomplishments are fleeting, but the works of God endure from generation to generation. The prayer is not simply for personal blessing but for a legacy of faith, that children and grandchildren might also witness the glory of God’s power. There is a quiet hope in these words. The God who has acted faithfully in the past is asked to continue revealing Himself, allowing each new generation to know not only the stories of His greatness but the reality of His presence.

“Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us” The final petition rests not on human strength but on divine grace. Throughout the psalm, humanity has been portrayed as frail, mortal, and unable to secure lasting significance. Yet God’s favor changes everything. His gracious presence transforms ordinary lives into instruments of His purpose. The psalmist understands that the greatest blessing is not prosperity, long life, or earthly recognition, but the assurance that the Lord looks upon His people with kindness. To live beneath God’s favor is to discover a security that outlasts changing circumstances and a peace that reaches deeper than life’s uncertainties.

“And establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!” The repetition gives the prayer both urgency and tenderness. So much of what we build seems temporary, vulnerable to time, disappointment, and death. Left to ourselves, even our finest achievements eventually fade. Yet the psalm ends with confidence that God can give lasting value to what is offered into His hands. The One who is eternal is able to preserve the fruit of faithful labor beyond the limits of our brief lives. This closing prayer gathers together the themes of the entire psalm. Our days are short, our strength is limited, and our efforts are incomplete. But when God’s favor rests upon us, even the ordinary work of our hands can participate in His enduring purposes, bearing fruit that reaches beyond our years and into eternity.
