Seek first the Kingdom of God…

I love to write! We are building a community of readers and writers that share a passion to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and then everything else will follow. This is a place where we express our writing and imagination for His glory.

Emotional Meditation—By Micah Siemens

“Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name” The voice of the psalm changes here as God Himself begins to speak. After the psalmist has celebrated the Lord’s faithful protection, the Lord confirms those promises with His own gracious declaration. The foundation of this relationship is not perfect performance but steadfast love. To hold fast to God is to cling to Him with trusting devotion, refusing to let go even when circumstances seem uncertain. Those who know His name know His character—they have come to trust the God who is merciful, faithful, and true. His promise of deliverance does not guarantee freedom from every trial, but it assures us that those who belong to Him will never be abandoned. His protecting hand rests upon all who have made Him their hope.

“When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him” One of the greatest comforts Scripture offers is not merely that God hears prayer, but that He answers with His presence. The Lord does not promise that His people will never face trouble; indeed, He plainly acknowledges that they will. Yet He pledges something even greater than the removal of every hardship—He promises to be with them in the midst of it. His presence transforms suffering, for no affliction is ever endured alone. The God who invites His children to call upon Him is the same God who walks beside them through every valley, sustaining them until the day of rescue comes according to His perfect wisdom.

“With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation” The promise of long life reflects the covenant blessings God graciously bestows upon His people, yet its deepest fulfillment reaches beyond the number of our earthly years. True satisfaction is never measured simply by longevity but by knowing the God who gives life. Even when earthly days are fewer than we might desire, those who belong to the Lord possess a hope that death itself cannot extinguish. The salvation God reveals is ultimately found in His redeeming work, bringing His people safely into His eternal presence where every promise finds its complete fulfillment.

Psalm 91 closes, then, not with uncertainty but with the reassuring voice of God Himself. Every promise throughout the psalm rests upon His covenant faithfulness and unfailing love. He delivers, protects, hears, accompanies, rescues, satisfies, and saves those who cling to Him in faith. Such promises invite neither presumption nor fear, but quiet confidence in the God whose purposes are always good. As we entrust ourselves to Him day by day, we may rest in the assurance that the One who has called us to Himself will remain with us through every trial, preserve us according to His perfect will, and one day bring us into the fullness of His everlasting salvation.
