Seek first the Kingdom of God…

I love to write! We are building a community of readers and writers that share a passion to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and then everything else will follow. This is a place where we express our writing and imagination for His glory.

Emotional Meditation By Micah Siemens

“That your beloved ones may be delivered, give salvation by your right hand and answer me!” The psalmist moves from praise into prayer, asking God to act on behalf of those He loves. There is something deeply encouraging about this transition because it reminds us that worship and dependence belong together. We can praise God for who He is while still bringing Him the burdens we carry. The psalmist does not pretend that he has everything under control; he openly asks God for deliverance. Perhaps you are facing a situation today that feels too large for your own strength. You may have tried to solve it, carried it in your thoughts, and wondered how things will turn out. Psalm 108 reminds us that it is not weakness to cry out to God for help. The Lord invites His beloved ones to bring their need before Him. When you cannot see a way forward, you can still place your confidence in the hand of the One who is able to save.

“God has promised in his holiness: ‘With exultation I will divide up Shechem and portion out the Valley of Succoth’” The psalmist responds to uncertainty by remembering what God has spoken. His confidence is not built merely on what he sees around him but on the character and promises of the Lord. This is important because our circumstances can change quickly, while God’s character remains constant. There will be moments when what you see seems to contradict what you hoped for, and those moments can test your faith deeply. Yet faith learns to hold on to God’s truth even when the path ahead is unclear. Perhaps you are waiting for an answer that has not yet come, or standing in a place where you cannot understand what God is doing. Do not allow uncertainty to erase what you already know about Him. When circumstances shift, return to His promises. The God who has been faithful in the past has not changed simply because today’s situation is difficult.

“Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet, Judah my scepter” These words declare God’s authority over His people and His purposes. The psalmist looks across the land and recognizes that every part of it ultimately belongs under God’s rule. There is comfort in remembering that nothing is outside His authority. We often become anxious when we feel that something important is beyond our control, but Scripture repeatedly directs our attention to the One whose authority has no such limitations. Your family, your future, your work, your unanswered questions, and the circumstances you cannot change are not outside God’s awareness. You may feel powerless in a particular situation, but God is never powerless. This does not mean that every outcome will unfold exactly as we desire, but it does mean that we can entrust our lives to a God whose rule is greater than the uncertainty surrounding us.

“Moab is my washbasin; upon Edom I toss my sandal; over Philistia I shout in triumph” The language is vivid and forceful, emphasizing that God is greater than the opposition standing before His people. What appears intimidating to us is not intimidating to Him. There are times when our fears become larger in our minds simply because we have spent too long looking at the obstacle instead of looking at God. We see the size of the problem, the strength of the opposition, or the uncertainty of the future, and we begin to wonder whether anything can change. Psalm 108 calls us to remember that the Lord is not overwhelmed by what overwhelms us. He is not surprised by the difficulty you are facing. He is not intimidated by the circumstances that have made you afraid. When you cannot see how victory is possible, you can still remember that God remains sovereign and that your hope does not rest upon your own ability to overcome.

Psalm 108:6–9 reminds us that the God who hears the cries of His beloved people is also the God who rules over every circumstance that concerns them. The psalmist asks for deliverance, remembers God’s promises, declares His authority, and looks beyond the obstacles before him. Perhaps you are standing today in front of something that seems too difficult to overcome. You may not know what God will do or when He will act, but you can bring your need to Him without fear. Let your prayers be honest, but let your confidence be rooted in His character. When fear tells you that the situation is too great, remember that God is greater. When uncertainty tells you that you are alone, remember that He has not abandoned you. And when you cannot see the way forward, place the situation into His hands. The Lord who gives His people strength in the battle is still faithful to hear, sustain, and guide those who place their trust in Him.
