Seek first the Kingdom of God…

I love to write! We are building a community of readers and writers that share a passion to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and then everything else will follow. This is a place where we express our writing and imagination for His glory.

Emotional Meditation By Micah Siemens

“The LORD will bless those who fear the LORD, both small and great” What a beautiful reminder that God’s blessings are not reserved for a select few or limited to those who hold positions of prominence or influence. The psalmist makes it clear that the Lord blesses all who revere Him, regardless of their circumstances, abilities, or standing in life. The words “both small and great” remind us that no one is overlooked in the family of God. Perhaps you sometimes feel insignificant, wondering whether your quiet acts of faithfulness matter or whether anyone notices the sacrifices you make. Maybe you serve behind the scenes, faithfully care for your family, or continue doing what is right without receiving recognition. Take comfort in knowing that the Lord sees you. Your faithfulness is never hidden from His sight, and your worth is never determined by the attention or approval of others. Whether your responsibilities seem great or small, you are precious to Him. We can rejoice in knowing that His love and care extend to every one of His children.

“May the LORD give you increase more and more, you and your children” The psalmist now expresses a prayer for God’s continued blessing and provision upon His people and their families. Notice that the blessing extends beyond the individual to include his children. God’s faithfulness has implications for generations to come. What a wonderful encouragement for parents and grandparents who desire to see their families walk with the Lord. We cannot control every decision our children will make, but we can faithfully pray for them, teach them God’s Word, and trust the Lord to work in their hearts. Perhaps you have been praying for a son or daughter who seems to be drifting away from the Lord, or you are concerned about the spiritual direction of your family. Do not grow weary in bringing their names before God. Continue to love them, encourage them, and point them toward the truth of His Word. Our greatest desire should not simply be that our children enjoy material prosperity or an easy life, but that they come to know the Lord, walk in His ways, and experience the richness of His grace.

“May you be blessed by the LORD, who made heaven and earth” What a powerful reminder of the greatness of the One from whom every blessing comes! The psalmist directs our attention away from the blessings themselves and toward the God who gives them. He is the Creator of heaven and earth, the One who spoke the universe into existence and holds all things in His hands. If He has the power to create the heavens and the earth, He certainly has the power to care for His people. Sometimes we become so focused on what we lack that we forget how great our God truly is. Perhaps you are facing an uncertain future, worrying about your family’s needs, or wondering how everything will work out. When those concerns begin to overwhelm you, remember who your God is. The One who created the world is the One who watches over you. Your circumstances may be beyond your ability to control, but they are never beyond His ability to handle. We must learn to measure our difficulties in light of God’s greatness rather than measure God’s ability by the size of our difficulties.

Together, these verses remind us that God’s blessings extend to all who fear Him, that His care reaches beyond our own lives to the generations that follow us, and that He is more than able to provide for every need. We serve a God who sees the unnoticed, cares about our families, and possesses unlimited power and wisdom. Perhaps you have been wondering whether your faithfulness matters, whether your prayers for your children will ever be answered, or whether the Lord will provide for the needs that concern you most. These verses encourage us to keep trusting Him. We may not always receive everything we desire, and God’s blessings may not always come in the form we expect, but we can be confident that He knows what is best and remains faithful to His people. Let us never become so occupied with seeking God’s blessings that we lose sight of the blessing of knowing Him. May we live with grateful hearts, faithfully pray for our families, and trust the Lord with the circumstances we cannot control. What a wonderful blessing it is to be known, loved, and cared for by the Lord!
