Seek first the Kingdom of God…

I love to write! We are building a community of readers and writers that share a passion to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and then everything else will follow. This is a place where we express our writing and imagination for His glory.

Emotional Meditation—By Micah Siemens

“O God, the proud have risen against me, and a mob of violent men have sought my life, and have not set You before them” David speaks honestly about the opposition he faced. His enemies were not only powerful but also driven by arrogance and disregard for God. These words remind believers that following the Lord does not exempt them from hardship, criticism, or injustice. There are seasons when it may seem as though pride, hostility, and evil are gaining the upper hand. Yet David does not allow the actions of others to define his response. Rather than becoming consumed by fear or bitterness, he turns his attention toward God. His example teaches believers that when challenges arise, the safest place to bring their concerns is before the Lord, who sees every circumstance and remains sovereign over every situation.

“But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, long-suffering and abundant in mercy and truth” In the midst of trouble, David shifts his focus from his enemies to the character of God. What a powerful reminder this is for every believer. Circumstances often tempt people to focus on what is wrong, painful, or uncertain. David instead anchors his heart in what is eternally true about God. He is compassionate toward the hurting, gracious toward the undeserving, patient with His children, and overflowing with mercy and truth. These attributes provide comfort and stability when life feels overwhelming. The strength of faith is not found in the absence of difficulties but in confidence in the God who remains faithful through them all.

“Oh, turn to me, and have mercy on me! Give Your strength to Your servant, and save the son of Your maidservant” David’s prayer reveals humility and dependence. He recognizes that he cannot face his struggles in his own strength. Instead, he asks God to look upon him with mercy and provide the strength he needs. Believers today face many situations that expose their limitations—personal burdens, family struggles, health concerns, and spiritual battles. Like David, they are invited to come before God with honesty and trust. The Lord does not grow weary of His children’s prayers. He delights in supplying strength to those who acknowledge their need for Him and place their confidence in His sustaining grace.

“Show me a sign for good, that those who hate me may see it and be ashamed, because You, Lord, have helped me and comforted me” David longs for a visible demonstration of God’s favor, not merely for personal vindication but as evidence of God’s faithfulness. Every believer can relate to the desire for reassurance during difficult seasons. While God’s signs of goodness may not always appear in dramatic ways, His help and comfort are continually present. Sometimes His sign is a renewed sense of peace, unexpected provision, strength to endure, or the encouragement that comes through His Word and His people. God faithfully reminds His children that He has not abandoned them and that His purposes for their lives remain secure.

Psalm 86:14–17 offers a beautiful picture of faith in the midst of adversity. David acknowledges the reality of opposition, remembers the character of God, seeks divine strength, and rests in God’s comfort. These verses encourage believers to look beyond their circumstances and fix their eyes on the Lord who is full of compassion and mercy. When challenges seem overwhelming, they can trust that God sees their needs, hears their prayers, and works for their good. As He strengthens and comforts His people, He provides countless reminders of His faithful presence, assuring them that they never walk through life’s difficulties alone.
