Seek first the Kingdom of God…

I love to write! We are building a community of readers and writers that share a passion to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and then everything else will follow. This is a place where we express our writing and imagination for His glory.

Emotional Meditation—By Micah Siemens

“You rule over the surging sea; when its waves mount up, You still them” The psalmist points to one of the most powerful and unpredictable forces in nature—the sea—and declares that it is fully under God’s authority. To ancient readers, the sea often symbolized chaos, danger, and uncertainty. Yet the Lord is not threatened by the storms that terrify others. He speaks, and the waves obey. Believers often encounter seasons when life feels turbulent and overwhelming, when circumstances seem beyond control and fears rise like crashing waves. This verse reminds us that the God who governs the seas also governs every circumstance we face. The storms of life may be real, but they are never beyond His command. We can rest in the assurance that the Lord remains sovereign even when our hearts are troubled.

“You crushed Rahab like one of the slain; with Your strong arm You scattered Your enemies” Here the psalmist recalls God’s mighty acts of deliverance and victory. Rahab is a poetic symbol of proud and rebellious powers that oppose God. Throughout history, kingdoms, rulers, and forces of evil have risen against the purposes of the Lord, yet none have succeeded in overcoming Him. God’s strength is unmatched, and His victories are complete. When believers face opposition, discouragement, or spiritual battles, it is comforting to remember that the Lord has already demonstrated His power countless times. The God who defeated the enemies of His people in the past remains the same today. His strong arm is never weakened, and His purposes can never be thwarted.

“The heavens are Yours, and Yours also the earth; You founded the world and all that is in it” The psalmist expands his vision from God’s victories in history to His ownership of all creation. Everything belongs to Him because everything comes from Him. The heavens above and the earth below exist by His design and sustaining power. This truth reminds believers that they are never outside God’s domain. There is no corner of creation where His authority does not reach and no situation that falls beyond His care. In a world that often feels uncertain and unstable, we find security in knowing that the Lord is both Creator and Sustainer. The One who made all things continues to hold them together according to His perfect wisdom.

“You created the north and the south; Tabor and Hermon sing for joy at Your name” The psalmist celebrates the vastness of God’s creative work, from distant regions to prominent mountains that stood as enduring landmarks in Israel’s landscape. Creation itself becomes a witness to God’s greatness, responding with joyful praise to its Maker. These words invite believers to see the fingerprints of God throughout the world around them. Every mountain, valley, sunrise, and season reflects something of His glory. When we take time to notice His handiwork, our hearts are drawn toward worship. The beauty and order of creation remind us that the Lord who made the world is worthy of continual praise and thanksgiving.

Psalm 89:9–12 directs our attention to the sovereign power of God over creation, history, and every force that opposes His will. The Lord rules the raging sea, defeats His enemies, owns the heavens and the earth, and fills creation with His glory. These truths provide deep comfort in times of uncertainty. The God who governs the universe is not distant from His people but actively involved in their lives. When circumstances seem chaotic and challenges appear overwhelming, we can trust the One whose authority extends over every wave, every nation, and every corner of creation. As we reflect on His power and majesty, our hearts are strengthened to worship Him with confidence, knowing that the Lord reigns forever.
