Seek first the Kingdom of God…

I love to write! We are building a community of readers and writers that share a passion to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and then everything else will follow. This is a place where we express our writing and imagination for His glory.

Emotional Meditation—By Micah Siemens

“You have a mighty arm; strong is Your hand, high Your right hand” The psalmist begins by declaring the unmatched strength of God. Throughout Scripture, God’s arm and hand symbolize His power to act, protect, deliver, and accomplish His purposes. Unlike human strength, which is limited and temporary, God’s power is infinite and unchanging. There are moments when believers feel weak, exhausted, and unable to carry the burdens before them. In such seasons, this verse directs our attention away from our own limitations and toward the limitless strength of the Lord. The God who rules the universe is never overwhelmed by the challenges that overwhelm us. His mighty hand remains at work even when we cannot see His purposes clearly, and His strength becomes a source of confidence for all who trust in Him.

“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; love and faithfulness go before You” God’s power is never separated from His perfect character. Earthly rulers often fail because strength without righteousness leads to oppression, while authority without justice brings corruption. The Lord’s reign is different. Every decision He makes is rooted in perfect righteousness and justice. At the same time, His love and faithfulness continually accompany His rule. Believers can rest in the assurance that God never acts unfairly, never overlooks what is right, and never abandons His promises. Even when circumstances are difficult to understand, we can trust that the One who governs all things does so with unwavering love and perfect wisdom. His throne stands secure because it is established upon what is eternally right and true.

“Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim You, who walk in the light of Your presence, Lord” The psalmist shifts from describing God’s character to highlighting the blessing of those who know Him. To acclaim the Lord is to respond to Him with joyful praise, confident trust, and wholehearted worship. Those who walk in the light of His presence experience a relationship with God that transforms their daily lives. The world often searches for happiness in achievements, possessions, or circumstances, yet true blessing is found in fellowship with the Lord. His presence brings guidance when we are uncertain, comfort when we are troubled, and peace when life feels unsettled. Those who walk closely with Him discover a joy that circumstances cannot destroy because it rests in the unchanging presence of God Himself.

“They rejoice in Your name all day long; they celebrate Your righteousness” The joy of God’s people is not based merely on favorable circumstances but on who God is. His name represents His character, His promises, and His faithfulness toward His people. Because God is righteous, believers have a secure foundation for hope. Because He is faithful, they can trust Him in every season. The psalmist describes a continual rejoicing that flows from remembering God’s goodness and reflecting on His character. While trials and difficulties are part of life, the believer possesses a deeper source of joy that remains steady through changing circumstances. The more we focus on God’s righteousness and faithfulness, the more our hearts are strengthened to rejoice even in challenging times.

Psalm 89:13–16 presents a beautiful portrait of God’s reign and the blessings experienced by those who belong to Him. The Lord rules with mighty power, yet His authority is founded upon righteousness, justice, love, and faithfulness. He invites His people to walk in the light of His presence and to find lasting joy in His name. In a world marked by uncertainty and disappointment, these truths provide enduring comfort. The God who possesses all power also possesses perfect goodness, and He uses His strength for the benefit of His people. As we reflect on His character and draw near to His presence, we find renewed confidence, deeper joy, and greater assurance that the Lord reigns forever in righteousness and love.
