Seek first the Kingdom of God…

I love to write! We are building a community of readers and writers that share a passion to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and then everything else will follow. This is a place where we express our writing and imagination for His glory.

Emotional Meditation—By Micah Siemens

“But I will not take My love from him, nor will I ever betray My faithfulness” After speaking of discipline for disobedience, the Lord now emphasizes a truth that brings immense comfort: His steadfast love will not be withdrawn. God’s correction may be real, but His covenant love remains secure. Human relationships are often marked by inconsistency, and promises are broken when circumstances change. God’s love, however, is not dependent upon changing emotions or human performance. Even when His people stumble, His faithfulness remains intact. Believers who carry the weight of past failures can find hope in this promise. The Lord may lovingly correct His children, but He never abandons them. His love endures through every season, and His faithfulness can never be compromised.

“I will not violate My covenant or alter what My lips have uttered” The Lord declares the absolute reliability of His word. Human promises are sometimes made with good intentions but are later forgotten, changed, or broken. God is different. Every promise He makes is grounded in His perfect character and unwavering truthfulness. What He has spoken, He will accomplish. For believers, this verse provides a firm foundation in a world filled with uncertainty. Circumstances may shift, emotions may fluctuate, and plans may fail, but God’s Word remains constant. When we cling to His promises, we are anchoring our lives to something that cannot be shaken. His covenant stands secure because it rests upon the integrity of God Himself.

“Once for all, I have sworn by My holiness—and I will not lie to David” Here the Lord strengthens His promise by appealing to His own holiness. Since there is no greater authority by which He can swear, He binds His covenant to His own perfect nature. God’s holiness guarantees the certainty of His word. He cannot deceive, and He cannot fail to fulfill what He has promised. The psalmist invites us to see the depth of God’s commitment to His people. When doubts arise and circumstances seem to contradict God’s promises, believers can remember that His faithfulness is rooted in His holy character. The God who cannot lie remains trustworthy even when we cannot yet see how His plans will unfold.

“That his line will continue forever and his throne endure before Me like the sun” The Lord returns to the enduring nature of His covenant with David. The image of the sun speaks of constancy, visibility, and permanence. Day after day, generation after generation, the sun rises according to God’s design. In the same way, God’s covenant purposes would continue according to His sovereign plan. Though earthly kingdoms would experience change and turmoil, God’s promise would remain intact. Ultimately, this points to the everlasting reign of the Messiah, whose kingdom will never pass away. Believers can draw strength from knowing that God’s redemptive plan is secure. Nothing in history can prevent the fulfillment of His purposes.

Psalm 89:33–36 offers one of Scripture’s most reassuring portraits of God’s covenant faithfulness. Though God disciplines His people, He does not withdraw His love. Though circumstances may appear uncertain, His promises remain unshaken. His covenant is upheld by His truthfulness, guaranteed by His holiness, and secured by His unchanging character. These verses remind us that our confidence rests not in our own ability to remain faithful but in God’s perfect faithfulness toward us. In moments of doubt, failure, or uncertainty, we can find refuge in the God who never breaks His word. As we reflect on His steadfast love and unwavering promises, our hearts are encouraged to trust Him more deeply, knowing that what God has spoken, He will surely bring to pass.
