Seek first the Kingdom of God…

I love to write! We are building a community of readers and writers that share a passion to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and then everything else will follow. This is a place where we express our writing and imagination for His glory.

“The LORD reigns; he is robed in majesty; the LORD is robed; he has put on strength as his belt” Psalm 93 opens with one of the Bible’s most triumphant declarations: the Lord reigns. Before any circumstance is described, before any trouble is acknowledged, the psalmist fixes our eyes upon the throne of God. His reign is not uncertain or temporary, but clothed in majesty, strength, and sovereign authority. Human kingdoms rise and fall, leaders come and go, and the world often seems unsettled, but God’s rule remains untouched by the instability of history. He has never surrendered His throne, nor has He ever been surprised by the events that unfold within His creation. For the believer, this truth becomes an anchor for the soul. We find peace not because life is always calm, but because the King who governs all things is perfectly wise, infinitely powerful, and forever faithful.

“Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved. Your throne is established from of old; you are from everlasting” The stability of creation rests upon the stability of its Creator. The world continues because God sustains it by His sovereign will, and His throne has stood secure from eternity past. Unlike earthly rulers whose authority begins and ends within the boundaries of time, the Lord has no beginning and no end. He reigns today exactly as He reigned before the foundations of the earth were laid. This eternal perspective lifts our hearts above the anxieties of the present moment. When everything around us appears uncertain, we remember that nothing has altered the purposes of God. The One who has always ruled will continue to rule, and His eternal kingdom provides a refuge that no earthly upheaval can ever shake.

“The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their roaring” The psalmist vividly portrays the overwhelming forces that threaten God’s people. Throughout Scripture, raging waters often symbolize chaos, suffering, opposition, and the frightening powers that seem beyond human control. At times our lives feel much like these roaring floods. Trials rise unexpectedly, grief crashes over us, fears threaten our peace, and circumstances seem determined to overwhelm our faith. Yet the psalm does not ignore these realities, nor does it minimize their intensity. Instead, it reminds us that our confidence is never found in the absence of storms but in the presence of the God who remains sovereign over them. However loudly the floods may roar, they can never drown out the voice of the One who reigns above them.

“Mightier than the thunders of many waters, mightier than the waves of the sea, the LORD on high is mighty!” The answer to every threatening wave is not greater human strength but the immeasurable power of God. The Lord is infinitely greater than every force that opposes Him. The waves may appear fierce, but they remain under His command. The storms that unsettle our hearts have never escaped His authority. This does not mean believers are spared every hardship, but it assures us that no hardship is greater than our God. The Savior who calmed the storm on the Sea of Galilee still rules over every tempest that enters the lives of His children. His power is never diminished, His promises never fail, and His presence never abandons those who trust in Him. The might of God gives His people confidence even when the winds continue to blow.

“Your decrees are very trustworthy; holiness befits your house, O LORD, forevermore” The psalm concludes by directing our attention to the perfect reliability of God’s Word and the holiness of His presence. Because the Lord reigns with absolute righteousness, His promises can never fail, and His commands never lead us astray. His truth remains steady in a world where opinions constantly shift and moral foundations often crumble. The holiness that fills His house also shapes the lives of those who belong to Him, calling us to reflect His character in our daily walk. Our confidence rests not only in God’s power but also in His perfect goodness. The King who rules the universe is completely trustworthy, and every word He has spoken is worthy of our confidence, obedience, and hope.

Psalm 93 invites us to lift our eyes above the noise of a troubled world and behold the unchanging reign of our God. Though the floods may rise and uncertainty may surround us, the Lord remains enthroned in majesty, clothed in strength, and mighty over every storm. His eternal kingdom cannot be shaken, His Word cannot fail, and His holiness endures forever. As we rest beneath His sovereign rule, we discover a peace that circumstances cannot provide and a confidence that no trial can destroy. The God who reigns over heaven and earth continues to govern every detail of our lives with perfect wisdom and unfailing love, and in Him we find both our refuge and our everlasting hope.
