Seek first the Kingdom of God…

I love to write! We are building a community of readers and writers that share a passion to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and then everything else will follow. This is a place where we express our writing and imagination for His glory.

Emotional Meditation—By Micah Siemens

“O LORD, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures” The psalmist pauses in wonder as he considers the incredible variety and beauty of everything God has made. Creation is not the product of meaningless chance but bears the marks of divine wisdom and intentionality. Everywhere we look, there are reminders of the creativity and power of God—the diversity of life, the beauty of the landscape, the changing seasons, and the countless details that we often overlook. We can become so accustomed to the world around us that we stop seeing it with wonder. Yet Psalm 104 calls us to slow down and recognize that the earth is filled with evidence of God’s wisdom. There are moments when life feels confusing and we wonder whether anything has purpose. But creation reminds us that God is a God of wisdom, order, and purpose. If He has made the world with such extraordinary care, we can trust that His wisdom also extends to our lives. We may not understand every circumstance, but we can trust the One who made all things in wisdom.

“Here is the sea, great and wide, which teems with creatures innumerable, living things both small and great” The psalmist directs our attention toward the vastness of the sea and the countless creatures that fill it. The ocean can make us feel incredibly small, yet even its enormous depths are completely known by God. Creatures that human beings may never see are not hidden from their Creator. Every living thing has a place within His creation, and every part of the sea reflects His abundance. This is a comforting truth when we feel unseen or insignificant. There may be moments when we wonder whether anyone truly understands what we are experiencing, or whether our prayers disappear into silence. But the God who knows every creature beneath the surface of the sea also knows every detail of our lives. Nothing is too hidden for Him to see, and no life is too small for Him to value. We do not have to make ourselves important in order to be noticed by God. The Creator already knows us completely, and His knowledge of us is not cold or distant—it is the knowledge of a Father who cares for His children.

“There go the ships, and Leviathan, which you formed to play in it” The psalmist continues to describe the sea as a place filled with movement, life, and mystery. Ships travel across its surface, while Leviathan moves within it, yet even this powerful and mysterious creature exists under the authority of the Creator. What may seem frightening or uncontrollable to us is simply another part of God’s creation. The image reminds us that God is not threatened by anything that appears powerful to us. There are circumstances in life that can feel like Leviathan—large, intimidating, and completely beyond our ability to control. We may face situations that cause us to fear because we cannot see how they will end. But Psalm 104 reminds us that nothing in creation is outside God’s authority. The sea belongs to Him, the creatures within it belong to Him, and the things that frighten us are still subject to His sovereign rule. We may not be able to control the waters, but we can trust the One who does.

Psalm 104:24–26 invites us to step back from our circumstances and behold the wisdom, abundance, and power of our Creator. The earth is filled with His works, the seas are overflowing with life, and even the mysterious creatures of the deep exist according to His design. When we feel overwhelmed by the complexity of life, creation reminds us that God is wiser than we are. When we feel unseen, the countless creatures known by Him remind us that He sees us completely. When we face something that feels too powerful to overcome, the vastness of the sea reminds us that nothing is beyond His authority. We do not have to understand everything in order to trust Him. The God who designed the smallest creature and commands the vastest ocean is also the God who holds our lives. His wisdom is greater than our confusion, His knowledge is greater than our uncertainty, and His power is greater than our fears. The earth is full of His works, the sea is filled with His creatures, and our hearts can rest in the wisdom of the God who made them all.
