Seek first the Kingdom of God…

I love to write! We are building a community of readers and writers that share a passion to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and then everything else will follow. This is a place where we express our writing and imagination for His glory.

Emotional Meditation By Micah Siemens

“Why was it, O sea, that you fled? O Jordan, that you turned back?” Having described the wonders of God’s power over creation, the psalmist now asks why the sea and the Jordan River responded in such a remarkable way. The answer is found in the presence of the Lord. The waters did not move because Israel was strong, but because the Almighty God was leading His people. What appeared impossible before them became possible through His power. This reminds us that the obstacles we face are never greater than the God we serve. Perhaps you are facing a situation today that leaves you wondering how things will ever change. You may be waiting for an answer to prayer, struggling with an unexpected difficulty, or searching for direction when the way ahead seems uncertain. It is easy to become discouraged when circumstances do not unfold as we hoped. Yet the God who made a way through the waters has not changed. He still sees our struggles, hears our prayers, and knows what lies ahead. We may not always understand His timing or recognize His purposes, but we can trust His wisdom and rest in His faithfulness. When questions fill your heart and answers seem far away, remember that you do not have to understand everything to trust the One who understands it all.

“What was it, O mountains, that you skipped like rams, and you hills, like lambs?” The psalmist continues by describing the mountains and hills responding to God’s presence. These great and seemingly immovable parts of creation are pictured as leaping before their Creator. What appears permanent and unchangeable to human eyes is still under the authority of the Lord. Nothing is too great for Him, and nothing can stand in the way of His purposes. Sometimes our difficulties feel like mountains that will never move. A painful relationship, a financial burden, a season of disappointment, or a prayer that remains unanswered can leave us wondering whether things will ever get better. We may grow weary from waiting and begin to lose hope. But the mountains that seem so great before us are never greater than the God who stands above them. He may remove the difficulty, or He may give us the strength to endure it. He may change our circumstances, or He may use them to change our hearts. Whatever He chooses, His presence remains our greatest comfort. Do not allow the size of your mountain to determine the strength of your faith. Instead, let the greatness of your God give you courage to keep moving forward. Even when the road is difficult, you can trust that He is walking with you.

Together, these verses remind us that all creation responds to the presence and authority of God. The sea fled, the Jordan turned back, and the mountains trembled before Him. The Lord who performed these wonders was the same God who loved His people and faithfully led them through their journey. What an encouragement this is for us when life becomes overwhelming. We often spend so much time looking at our difficulties that we forget to look at the God who is greater than them. We measure our circumstances by our limited strength rather than by His unlimited power. Yet the Lord has not abandoned us, even when the way forward seems unclear. There will be times when we pray for the waters to part and the mountains to move, but nothing appears to change. In those moments, we must remember that God’s faithfulness is not measured by how quickly our circumstances improve. His presence is just as real in the waiting as it is in the breakthrough. He knows our fears, understands our burdens, and remains faithful through every season. Therefore, do not lose heart when you face what seems impossible. Keep bringing your concerns before Him, keep trusting His promises, and keep walking in faith. The God who commands the sea and rules over the mountains is also the God who holds your life in His hands. May we learn to find our confidence not in the absence of difficulties, but in the enduring presence of the Lord who is greater than anything we will ever face.
