Seek first the Kingdom of God…

I love to write! We are building a community of readers and writers that share a passion to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and then everything else will follow. This is a place where we express our writing and imagination for His glory.

Emotional Meditation By Micah Siemens

“The Lord raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap” Having shown us the greatness of the Lord, the psalmist now reveals the tenderness of His heart. The God who reigns above the heavens stoops to lift those who have been brought low. People may overlook us because of our circumstances, but the Lord sees our struggles and knows our sorrows. Perhaps you are walking through a season when disappointments have piled up and hope seems difficult to find. Remember that your circumstances do not determine your worth in the eyes of God. Even when you feel buried beneath sorrow or uncertainty, His grace is sufficient to sustain you. We may not know when our circumstances will change, but we can trust the heart of the God who sees us in our lowest moments. The dust beneath our feet is not beyond His reach, and the ash heap of our sorrow is not beyond His power.

“And lifts the needy from the ash heap, to make them sit with princes, with the princes of his people” The psalmist describes a remarkable change: those who once sat in humiliation are lifted into a place of honor. The Lord does not merely notice the needy from a distance; He reaches down to lift them. We may experience rejection, disappointment, or seasons when we feel left behind. Yet God sees our lives from a perspective we cannot fully understand. He can bring hope where there has been despair and restore dignity where shame has taken hold. His work may not unfold as quickly as we desire, but our worth rests not in our position or the approval of others; it rests in His grace. The God who lifts us also calls us to treat others with compassion. When we remember His kindness toward us, we learn to treat the struggling with gentleness and the overlooked with dignity. No one should be regarded as beyond the reach of His grace.

“He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the Lord!” The psalmist concludes with a deeply personal picture of God’s goodness. A woman longing for children could carry a sorrow that others neither understood nor knew how to comfort. Yet the Lord sees the private grief people carry behind their outward smiles. He knows the prayers repeated for years and the disappointments that are difficult to explain. This verse does not promise that every longing will be fulfilled as we desire, but it reminds us that God sees our sorrow and remains compassionate. Sometimes His blessings come in forms we did not expect, and sometimes we must trust Him through desires that remain unfulfilled. If you are carrying a deep disappointment today, do not mistake your circumstances for the absence of God’s care. He understands the ache of your heart, even when words fail you. His goodness remains worthy of our praise, both when we rejoice in answered prayer and when we must trust Him through tears.

Together, these verses remind us that the Lord who reigns above the heavens is also the God who lifts the lowly and brings hope to the sorrowful. He sees those whom the world overlooks and cares for those who feel forgotten. When life brings us low, we can trust Him with our pain. When disappointment makes us question our worth, we can remember that His love is not measured by our achievements or possessions. Psalm 113:7–9 does not promise a life without hardship, but it reveals a God whose compassion reaches into our deepest struggles. He can lift us when we have fallen, sustain us when we are weary, and give us hope when the future seems uncertain. Let us never look down upon those who struggle, for the Lord Himself bends low to lift them. And let us never believe that we must wait until every prayer is answered before we can praise His name. Whether we stand on the mountaintop or sit in the dust, the Lord remains worthy of our trust and worship. Therefore, even in our hardest seasons, may our hearts continue to declare, “Praise the Lord!”
